More than 700 people attended Dayton Visual Arts Center’s 22nd Annual Art Auction on Friday, April 29, 2016 at The David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair Community College. The event began at 6:00 p.m. with a Silent Auction that ran from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and a Live Auction that took place at 7:30 p.m. with spirited auction-goers excitedly bidding on pieces they hoped to take home.
DVAC’s Annual Art Auction is Dayton’s signature art fundraising event, designed to raise $80K, and is the only auction in the region dedicated exclusively to visual art. The 110 pieces of art up for auction included paintings, photographs, prints, glass, jewelry and more created by the talented array of artists from in and around the Miami Valley.
A highlight of the evening was the DP&L Live Auction, featuring Dayton’s “Superstar” auctioneer, Doug Sorrell and his high-spirited coaching of new and experienced bidders, where one piece by John Emery sold for a record $6,100.
